Winter Make-Up

Winter is one of the most looked forward seasons of the year. With Christmas and the New Year fast approaching, everybody gets excited when winter comes. And, each one wants to polish properly and look quite glamorous.

Sheer and light make-up is advisable during the winter as dense make up has a risk of being smudged and washed out severely. Use waterproof products like waterproof mascara /eye liners and transfer resistant lipsticks. If it a must for you, you can even use waterproof foundation.

 During winter it’s best to avoid foundation and you can prepare the base of your makeup using tinted powder with little shimmer.

 Master the art of creating smoky eyes as this will make you look chic no matter what.

 Keep your eyebrows in shape as you may not be able to use eyebrow pencil during a downpour.

 Opt for light brown, pastel, coffee, cinnamon, beige or pink cream eye shadows, along with a thick line of waterproof eye liner.

 Water- based moisturizers are a must during rainy seasons to keep up with the water loss due to sweat.

 Use moisturizers with sun-protection factor before going out even during the winter days.

 Keep your blush light and blend it well – shades of pink, brown or peach can be used.

 Go for soft matte lipsticks with sheer gloss. You can also opt for berry tones.

 It’s advisable to keep your hairstyles simple as complex hairstyles are difficult to manage and may appear dowdy due to the dampness. Go for layered hairstyles instead.

 Wash your hair and massage your scalp on regular basis to avoid hair problems like dandruff.

 For fragrance, opt for natural aromas or essence of essential oils.

 Use night creams religiously during the winter season.

Before you can begin applying make up, assure that your skin looks and feels healthy. Do remember, skincare and make up go together. Start by eating fruits, drinking lots of water and exercising everyday in order to keep your skin fresh and new.

Cleanliness is yet another important aspect to consider before you apply any make up. Keep your make up applicators or brushes fresh and clean. Wash them after use. It is also highly recommended that you keep your hands and nails clean at all times before applying make up. Never forget to wash your face before wearing a winter make-up. Use lukewarm water instead of cold water to help open the pores.

During winter, the pores are always closed because of the chillness. This would eventually cause you to have a dry skin because the natural oil gets stuck deep within. Hence, wash it with lukewarm water to open the pores so that the skin can excrete out the natural oils and can absorb the moisturizers you will be applying. Too much make-up can damage the skin.

Always use safe and quality products. Finally – be comfortable, be confident, be yourself and look great!
