The Little Black Dress

If there’s one item you shouldn’t miss having in your wardrobe it’s the ‘ Little Black Dress.’ It was introduced in 1926 by Coco Chanel and since then it has become a symbol of timeless fashion. When you aren’t sure about what to wear for the evening, the little black dress always comes to one’s rescue. The great thing about the dress, is that it looks different on different women.

How to Choose a Little Black Dress:

Consider your body shape. If you are heavy shaped, try a V-neck or a wrap style. If you are pear shaped, go for a style that flares below the waist and fitted at the top. Petite women can wear dresses that fall at the knee or just above the knee.

Identify your key assets and your comfort level. Are you comfortable showing your back off? Would halters and backless numbers look great on you? Is the plunging neck line the apt one? How short would you want the hemline?

Assure you look at all angles in the dressing room. Get rid of any dress that makes it hard for you to sit, walk or dance comfortable. Go for ones that flatter your shape and style. You should be able to wear your dress for various occasions.

Observe the material of the dress. Check how the fabric feels against your skin. Fabrics like silk crepe hangs neatly. Opt for materials that dry quickly and defend wrinkles so that you are all set for any fashion emergency.

Always choose a black dress with one special feature, like a daring neckline, zigzag straps at the back or a deep slit at the side, back or front. Let the dress be simple yet elegant.

Buy a dress that fits you now. Do not go for smaller sized clothes hoping that you can lose weight and fit into it.

How to Accessorize the Little Black Dress:

With a few accessories, you can create a whole new look.
