Tarun Tahiliani’s collection draws inspiration from ‘the Kumbh – A mela’.A sea of humanity, an emotion of color. And now an ingrained sense of style. Sadhus, dervishes, draping, styling, colour, pattern, embroidery, silhouette and layering, come together to set the stage for the sharp, transient sentiment that is the Kumbh. Shimmers of saffron, glimmers of reds, sparkles of golds and hues of evening browns and midnight blacks cause Kumbh-induced awakenings. Laser etching, zardozi, appliqué, bandhani, jamewar, tie and dye, velvet, animal prints, satin, thick jersey make for exciting moods. A very organic feel exists through the skirts, kurtis, jackets, dresses, saris, gilets and accessories. There is a lot of the signature layering and wrapping that reminds one of the sensuousness and aesthetics of the Kumbh.
Undoubtedly Tarun Tahiliani’s was the best show of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2013.
