Lustrous, shining hair are almost every woman’s dream desire, but owing to the pressures of a mundane existence, constant treatment of chemicals and exposure to other dust particles, hair tend to lose their sheen and texture over a period of time.
We brought together some smart secrets to keep your hair healthy and envious at every age
• Pay attention to the scalp
Opt for a hot oil treatment at least once a week, with nutrient based oils such coconut or olive and rosemary oil. Follow it with a light hair massage that will ensure the roots get the required nutrients. Comb or brush your hair with caution to avoid hurting the scalp and the hair follicles
• Eat healthy
As clichéd as it sounds, a healthy diet will benefit your body and hair, in more than one ways. Ensure a regular intake of vitamin B6 and B12 based food items include items that are rich in omega acids to increase hair growth, and invest in supplements if needed.
• Wash and Condition
Depending on the length of the hair, wash them with Luke warm water at least twice to thrice a week and most importantly, condition them well using a gentle shampoo devoid of any sulphate constituents. Remember washing the hair daily can rob it of its nutrients, leaving the scalp dry and prone to dandruff
• Indulge in styling minus chemicals
Trimming the hair every 2 months is a great idea to keep split ends at bay, however refrain from indulging in chemical treatments or any other permanent solutions. Undergoing the heat treatment or the attack of harsh chemicals will weaken the roots, increasing hair fall. If necessary, restrict these styles to minimal.

A whiff in the air with an aroma that’s breath-taking, a frothy cup of brew and some savouries to excite the soul, monsoons have certainly much more on the offing besides the downpour. Monsoons are a great time to indulge in outdoor activities (provided one loves to get drenched and have a gala time under the wild sky). However many of us negate the fact that our body and hair need extra maintenance during the damp weather to be able to rub shoulders with its pace.
Incessant rainfall not only dampens your skin leading to skin allergies and infections but impacts the texture of hair adversely. Hence it becomes essential to take proper care of your skin and hair and look your charming best by following some easy steps
• Wear loose fitting clothes and opt for light materials such as cotton
• Ditch those stilettoes in favour of some itsy bitsy slippers that are comfortable and will save you a fall too
• Do not forget to wash and condition your hair regularly to keep dandruff at bay.
• Opt for minimal make up, refrain using a powder based compact, opt for non-smudgy kohl and mascara to prevent looking like a million dollar ghost.
• Most importantly keep your skin clean all the times by using an anti-bacterial face wash and a vitamin e based moisturiser.

Gone are the days when braided hair was touted as a boring school girl hairdo. With the ever evolving fashion trends, this simple yet interesting style seems to be scoring brownie points among women of all age groups. From ace Tennis players to bedazzling Hollywood starlets, all have been spotted flaunting different braided styles making it the next rage on the ramp.
Braiding is a quick and easy process that prevents hair from looking dishevelled and also lends an edgy look to the face, especially if the hair texture is wavy. People with straight hair can opt for French braids for an understated yet suave look that can very well complement formal attire. For an unkempt and chic look, opt for a hairline braid leaving a few strands of hair apart or settle for a waved braid that will add a bit of volume to hair.
Keeping the hair tied with a braid not just prevents excessive hair breakage but also aides in hair growth. However one has to be choosy about the products such as conditioning potions and creams that are applied before braiding, since most of these are chemical based and regular usage can degrade the hair texture. Ensure that the hair is cleansed and conditioned before braiding and refrain from braiding wet hair as it will tangle them further leading to breakage.
Hair stylists all over the world suggest that braiding style should be in accordance with the shape of the face. Those with a round face can highlight their features best through a French braid tied neatly whereas a fishbone braid looks best on those who have an extended jaw bone or even an oval face. Keep the braid simple for a day at work and add some bling accessories for an oomph factor during an evening out

Planning to dye your hair? Bored of your current look? Well sure why not? With these guidelines your new hair color won’t be a total disaster!!
- Don’t go more than two shades lighter your old hair color. Going extreme on your hair color change can look awful and also note suit your skin tone, so ladies please, not so drastic?
- Always uses the right equipment. I’ve seen people use toothbrushes to apply hair color! A proper color applying brush must b used for maximum better results.
- Always use shampoo for colored hair. This is very important because these shampoos contain properties intended for colored hair in order to strengthen it and that extra shine.
- Don‘t forget to treat your colored hair. At least once a month ,colored hair should be treated with hair packs and plus you can make one on your own by using various fruits, honey and other organic ingredients.
- Avoid styling it with heat often. This not only applies to colored hair but also normal hair. Often use of heat, damages hair very much, hence should be avoided.
- If going for extreme colors like red or blonde, it should be done by a professional, do at home kits is not advised. Bleaching hair is hair suicide, it should be avoided at any costs.
