Bangalore Fashion Week’s Star Studded Last Day


The final day of Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week was a true celebration of fashion, with Designers, Piyush & Prodip, Tasneem Merchant, Trisha Das & Moumita, Shivani & Joy, Anuradha Paul, Neerus, Pam & Arch and Neeta Lulla, showcasing their collection.

Celebrity showstoppers like Shruti Hassan, Neetu Chandra, Piya Trivedi and Natasha Suri heightened the celebration.

The show opened with the collection of young designers Prodip Polley and Subhankar Das from Kolkata. These enthusiastic designers with the help of the choreographer, Rahul Dev Shetty made the models not only walk the ramp to their tunes. They made them dance too. Their extreme creativity in designs and the choreography swept the Bangalore Fashion Week (BFW) 2011 audience.

Their collection titled ‘Break the Boundaries,’ showcased western street wear. These designers strictly used the current trend (Eco friendly fabrics) in their fabric selection. They had fabrics like cotton and linen. When asked, why did not they go for a show stopper? They said, “We are the show stoppers; we are the celebrities,”.

Piyush Bhaakhariya, showcasing for BFW for the first time showcased 12 outfits. He said that, the collection is inspired by the sailor and yachting theme. He presented cruise wear collection, which is meant to relax and enjoy the time. His designs had very minimal stylish cuts. It had shades of lilac, blue, white and green. The fabric he used throughout his designs were linen.

The next designers for BFW last day were, Tasneem Merchant and the duo Trisha & Moumita. Tasneem Merchant’s collection had designs of western, indo –western, bridal and fusion wear. Her collection titled, ‘Myriad Hues,’ showcased vibrant colors. Layers and frills dominated her designs. The draping with the embellishments showcased how trendy women of this era can be. Fabrics like georgettes, shibori silk, lace, nets and metallic tissue were used. Shades of wine, silver, lilac and gray with tonal effects mesmerized the audience. The super model and popular VJ, Pia Trivedi walked the ramp for her. Pia said, “I feel honored to be a part of the fashion week. The designers here show amazing potential, taking the fashion industry of India to the next level.”

The designer duo Moumita & Trisha Das presented their clothing line titled, ‘Under the Sea.’ They showcased designs of indo-western outfits and ethnic wear. Shades of green, blue and gray were used extensively to depict the colors under the sea. Fabrics such as cotton silk, tasar silk, net and cotton khadi were used.

Next line had the collection by Shivani & Joy. They showcased simple and classy designs which were focusing on silhouettes. The theme titled, ‘Beautiful Grunge,’ portrayed rainy season in a fashionable way. Through our designs we portrayed rainy season as climatic celebration. In our designs, taking the inspiration from the dirt, garbage and messed effect during rainy season, we have brought the after look of a garbage area, during rainy season in an urban city life.

They had pure western outfits that included capris, short jackets and jump-suits. Shades of blue, brown, rust, green, khaki etc were used. Former Miss India –World, Natasha Suri walked the ramp for the duo. Natasha says, “The collection blew me off. The cuts, shapes and even minute details like the zip attachments are done in a creative way.”

Anuradha Paul showcased her collection titled, ‘Vrigo,’ as the zodiac sign stands for its strong and bold characteristic; her designs too showcased the same. Her clothing line included, party wear, western trouser and shirts that showed variation with regard to colour. It ranged from a darker to lighter shade. To bring the perfect idea of western outfits she did not use much embellishments or bling factors. The stunning actress Neetu Chandra walked the ramp for her. Neetu said, “I love to be a part of BFW as it always comes up with different ideas.”

Neeru’s showcased brilliant collection of wedding / bridal exclusive saris and salwar kameezs. They have added a contemporary touch to their designs. Neerus said that the collection is especially to all opulent women to adorn themselves in a very rich-ethnic look. The stunning and beautiful Yana Gupta walked again for them.

Pam and Arch the London based designer duo stunned the audience with their excellence. They showcased two labels named: ‘Pam and Arch and Muraad’ at BFW. Pam and Arch, clothing line had lovely and impressive prints. While the next, ‘Muraad’ showcased on high fashion clothing line.

Pam and Arch collection was done in the theme, ‘Reflections of light and life,’ where as Muraad showcased a soothing summer collection. It displayed trendy dresses, tops, pants and gowns. The designs and the designers out did the concept of having a showstopper.

The most awaited grand finale by the renowned designer Neeta Lulla was a real feast to eyes. Her amazing designs took the audience to the fairy land of fashion. The clothing line comprised of churidars, kurtis, gowns and saris. Shades of white were used extensively. She said that the inspiration behind this collection is from 1920’s. Fabrics used were silk, chiffons, jerseys, georgettes, and Italian fabrics. The embellishment and sequence work did the magic. The gorgeous Indian actress, Shruti Hassan walked the ramp for Neeta Lulla. She was clad in a lovely white outfit.

Neeta Lulla said, “Fashion in Bangalore is very promising; especially with the IT sector blooming with the young crowd. As you see my collection is very feminine, young and wearable.”

Shruti Hasan said, “I am glad Neeta has called me once more to walk for her! I am really proud to walk for her as she is one of those promising designers of the country.”

The last day of Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week ended successfully with the after hour party. Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week is really promoting and supporting Bangalore’s growth as a fashion hub. As the time passes the action only gets bigger and better. So let us wait for the next season.

Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week Day 3 Photographs


Day 3 of Blenders Pride Bangalore Fashion Week was exciting with big designers like Ramesh Dembla, Swapnil Shinde, Pria Kataaria Puri and Monapali showcasing their latest collection. The other designer who showcased their collection are Meera Rohit, Rupa G, Soham Chakraborty, Arka & Ruchi.
