Bangalore witnessed a heavy mix of glitz, glamor, fashion and entertainment as the Grand Finale of “Astitva 2013” A National Level Apparel and Jewellery Design Contest kicked off. Astitva 2013 is brought to you by the ‘League of Fashion’ a platform created to recognize emerging talent of all aspects of fashion from across India.
The evening began with dance troupe Oxygen setting the stage on fire with their performance on “Navras.” The Chief Guest for the day Mr. Raju Gowda, Honorable Minister of Small Scale Industries was present and offered some inspiring words to all the contestants.
The fashion show themed “Indian Heritage” began with an eclectic display of exquisite and gorgeous apparel and jewelry by the finalists. Each piece was designed with artistic brilliance and had us in absolute awe. The judges and audiences were taken aback by the intricate designs, gorgeous embellishments and the talent that each of the aspiring fashion students displayed. This event drew participation from 52 Design Institutes across 24 cities of India. From 400 entries, 17 finalists were selected from Jammu, Jaipur, Surat, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kerala, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore. The suave, refreshing faces who walked the ramp, made Fashion Stylist and Show Director, Rajesh Shetty stand tall and proud. Just as you thought the night couldn’t get any better and any bigger, a fashion sequence by Tata Safari Storme had our jaws dropping. “Astitva 2013” was certainly designed to be a visual treat for all fashion lovers. The evening also saw some recherché and renowned names like Samyakk, Soch and Sanskruti Silks. The jewelry showcase by Raj diamonds, Sri Krishna Jewelry and The Gallery was superlative. RJ Nethra and RJ Pradeep from Radiocity joined hands to felicitate the Model Hunt winners Akanksha Gautam and Rohit Amin.
Talking about “Astitva 2013”, Ilyas Akhtar, Chairman League of Fashion said, “I feel immensely proud of all the participants who put in such hard work to produce international standards of garments and Jewellery. I thank all the institutes for their support in making Astitva 2013 a success”.
The night ended on a high note with the winners Mohit Pratap Singh of NIFT, Mumbai who bagged the first place for the apparel category and Siddhi Gala of the Indian Institute of Jewellery, Mumbai bagging the first place for the Jewellery category. Rajesh Shetty, bid adieu to the night with his Vote of Thanks. “Astitva 2013” was truly a magical night and had each of us absolutely spell-bound.
