Men from the IT city of Bangalore were in for a pleasant surprise this Friday evening as all roads led to KIMAYA, UB City Mall on the High Street of Vittal Malya. It was the launch of VIA MONTENAPO – a label known for its custom made men’s shirts styled by Milan based designer Francesco Rossi and made exclusively with Italian fabrics from Canclini Tessile S.p.A.
Inspired by the fashionable high street of the same name in the city of Milan, VIA MONTENAPO excels in making high end shirts, made from the finest quality of Egyptian cotton that has been honed to perfection by European design maestro Francesco Rossi. For Spring-Summer 2012, he has designed three collections – the ethnic driven ‘Classic’ meant for daily use, the neo-traditional ‘Sporty’ that celebrates the ironic values of rebellion and rootedness and the epic grandeur of ‘Luxury’ – perfect for those long awaited celebrations!
The collections were launched through an innovative fashion show held at the Kimaya store itself. It saw male models of Italian and Indian body types sashay down the elevated granite runway! Ace choreographer, Prasad Bidappa, not only directed the show but also played the pleasant yet witty anchor by engaging one and all with his charming presence.
Says Simone Canclini, CEO, Canclini Tessile S.p.A & Milano Luxury Garments Pvt Ltd; which brings the label to India, “Choosing a shirt is a simple yet tricky art that every man has to master, you need to remain understated and yet stand out. Via Montenapo, helps you do just that. Be it just another day at work or those adrenaline pumping, most awaited moments, our shirts ensure that the man in you has met his perfect match. We believe in sartorial excellence, one man’s food may be another man’s poison – hence we offer made to measure services that ensure brilliant designs and excellent fits which you can never go wrong with, it also saves you the embarrassment bumping into someone wearing the same design.”
By associating exclusively with Kimaya, Via Montenapo marks its entry into the Indian luxury retail market and has plans to expand to 25 stores in the next 3 to 5 years. With average prices starting at Rs. 4000/- for a basic shirt and going up to Rs. 15,000/- for an ultra exclusive 300’s bespoke shirt, the label offers world class couture quality and style to its discerning customer who seeks a unique and distinguished way to express his style – an attribute that Kimaya is known for and the reason for the two brands to come together.
Resonating similar views, Pradeep Hirani, owner, Kimaya Fashions Pvt. Ltd. said, “Bangalore is a city buzzing with life and cosmopolitan crowd, while UB City is one of the most luxurious properties in the country. Together it is a win-win for the Kimaya store in Bangalore. The men in Bangalore are extremely fashion conscious and have the taste to spend on the finer things in life. Most of them accompany the women patrons at Kimaya and we have always been flooded with requests to cater to the fashion needs of the men too. Via Montenapo is a step in this direction. The philosophy of Cancilini and the brand mix of Kimaya are a perfect fit.”
In the past Kimaya has housed many international brands like Trussadi, Pinko, Max Mara, Red Valentino, Kalliste, Versus, Etro, Michel Perry and many others. Guests were treated to exquisite Italian hors de oeuvres and exotic platters over the wine and cheese soiree. The evening also satiated the sweet tooth of many as melting Lindors by Lindt (of the Narang Group) were served throughout the do!
