Smoothies have been a fairly new concept and are mostly seen as replacements for indigenous fruit based shakes, but seldom do people realise that these fruit based smoothies are a healthier option as they do not contain dollops of ice creams or sugar chunks as sweetening agents.

Diet experts and nutritionists also claim that smoothies can be a great aid after a workout as they contain appropriate amount of protein and prevent from depletion of any nutrients and hence a great way to fill up for those on diets.

Take a quick look at these yummy smoothie recipes and enjoy them without having to ponder over your calorie intake
• Strawberry Smoothie
As delicious as it sounds, it can be prepared by using fresh strawberries, water, 2 egg whites and a tbsp. of flaxseed oil. Instead of sugar, opt for liquid Stevia.
• Whey and Mixed fruit smoothie
Mix some fruits of your choice such as a banana, berries, strawberries or grapes. Add about 2 scoops of whey protein, half a cup yoghurt and half cup skimmed milk. It’s a tasty and healthy smoothie that can satiate your hunger without adding on any flab
• Mango smoothie
Pick up a pack of fat free frozen yoghurt in your favourite flavour, add some skimmed milk and diced mango to it, 2 tbsp. of protein powder and ice to taste. Churn it in a mixer and savour a delightful mango smoothie that is easy on calorie count too.
