Fashion Designer Neha Poddar

Fashion Designer Neha Poddar had an artistic instinct since her childhood days which persuaded her towards Fashion. She joined National institute of Fashion Technology, the best design institute in India and graduated as a Textile Designer from 2003-07 batch.

During her studies at NIFT, she got the chance to have the best industrial exposure. She did her  Graduating project at Shahi Exports, Faridabad where she got the chance to design her first ever Home-linen collection which was applauded by Shahi in terms of creativity and sales as well. She says that working with Shahi Exports was a great experience as well as a good learning. It was then she got the idea that there are many designer clothing labels in India but rarely a designer home-linen label. So she launched her Designer Home-linen label “Nehaz” in 2007 in Kolkata. Nehaz is currently an established Premium home-linen label in Kolkata with one of the best Clientele.

After successfully establishing Nehaz, she introduced her Clothing Line “Naksh” in 2010 and made a debut at Bangalore Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2010. The theme behind the collection was “The Warrior Princess”. This label combines couture spirit with elements of innovative detailing — reflected in the spirit of youth that the superb texturing and silhouettes radiate. The results are dazzling examples of attitudes that represent the contemporary women — modern, chic and sexy.

The collection is a smart amalgamation of bold masculinity and feminine grace. It portrays the women of today as individuals, who are willing to push their way forward irrespective of their circumstances; who are tender at heart yet fearless in their attitude. She can’t be dictated by the society, is free to explore her inner world and rediscover her personality, is both bold and beautiful and is the princess of her times. The collection is rooted in tradition but effortlessly succeeds in belonging to contemporary fashion. It is, in short, a paean to individuality.

Autumn-Winter 2010-2011 is the season the prêt collection belongs to. It encompasses women’s evening dresses, tunics and smart ethnic wear and its palette comprises black, various shades of mauve and grey with occasional splashes of blue and green. The garments obliquely echo masculinity with their straight lines, exaggerated shoulders and collars, which add a dash of wonder to the eternal mystery of the feminine beauty.
