Bistro Claypotia | The Mandis Review

Bistro Claytopia is the place to be in, if you are looking out for some good food and fun. We came to know about this place from some friends and decided to give it a try. And we thank the heavens we did! Such a cosy and lovely place where you can spend hours on end. Its got a relaxing feel to it which makes you fall in love with the place instantly.

This place in Indira nagar is hard to miss and can be easily spotted when you walk down 6th Main. Its well lit in the evenings. The cafe has a claytopia zone attached to it where you can unleash your creativity, while you wait for your order. Both the cafe and claytopia are well decorated with the pots designed in house, and some vuvuzelas(horns used in football matches in South Africa) to compliment it.

While you wait for your order to arrive, you can visit the Claytopia and choose from the clay pots kept there. They have piggy bank, butterfly, fish shaped pots and varied sizes of mugs and the likes for you to buy. Once you buy the pot, you will be given brushes and colors to start painting. Your masterpieces will be fired and glazed by them and returned in two weeks time. For newbies, they have instructions and samples.

We sat at the cafe zone first and ordered our drinks Kiwi Fizz, Cranberry Sparkler, Orange Granita and for starters, Crispy Chicken and Potato Wedges. Though the starters took some time to come (probably because they were expecting us to do some painting meanwhile-we had a quick glance at the claytopia), we were pretty happy with the food when it came. Crispy chicken was served along with asparagus and was indeed crispy and tasty. Potato Wedges is one dish that can and should never go wrong and our Vegan friend didn’t utter a word while she was busy devouring it.

Since Bistro is known for its juicy burgers, we were on a mission to vandalise the place for its burgers. So without much thought, we ordered burgers for the main course. We tried Tandoori Chicken Burger, Grilled Lamb Burger, Roadside Rowdie Burger (Veg) and Barbecued Burger. Burgers come in small and large sizes and also in combos with drink and fries. The burgers used simple ingredients but were well worth the price and absolutely delicious. Our hard to please Vegan friend, who thinks most restaurants don’t do justice to Veg food, was heard commenting on the Roadside Rowdie Burger “This is as good a Veg burger can get”.

After the hogging, we headed to the Claytopia zone to invoke the Da vinci and Picasso in us. We were greeted by a lady named Kala who was extremely friendly and helpful. She helped us in selecting the clay pots and colors and gave some tips also on the go. For the next two hours we were transported back to the arts and crafts classes in school and it was such a great experience. The place is ideal for kids parties.

We spent a good three hours in Bistro Claytopia and that goes to show what a laidback and enjoyable place this is. Mandis’ level of happiness after visiting this place is 10/10. 🙂
