Ananya Trust Bangalore

Ananya Trust for Children photosAnanya Trust is a unique learning space for underprivileged children located in a nature-friendly campus in South East Bangalore. It is a space which allows children to celebrate the joys of learning as they enquire, explore and experiment.

At Ananya, children who have been left out of the mainstream education system find a space for alternative learning which is value based and prepares them to become strong and sensitive individuals.

Ananya Trust has been organizing puppet shows and workshops in puppetry and theatre through the guidance and support of Rohit Bhatia, a Delhi-based Creative Consultant who has been working with NGOs and Corporates for over ten years.

Rohit Bhatia has been involved with Katkatha and Purak, Delhi-based puppet groups that have been mentored by Dadi Padamjee (President, Unima International). Rohit is a member of Unima India (an international union for puppeteers).

With the support of Global Fund for Children-USA, children and faculty at Ananya Trust along with Rohit Bhatia from Delhi, envisioned and staged a musical drama, “Hope for the Flowers” in six cities across India in 2008.

In 2009, the same team began a similar expedition in Bangalore by organizing a puppet festival using the Bunraku style of puppetry, and wants to share their experiences with a wider public and create collective learning opportunities about art forms like music, drama and puppetry.
