“Fashion Is My Soul” – Anuradha Paul

The woman of creativity and elegance best describes this young designer, Anuradha Paul. She started her successful journey in the year 2007. She believes that with her indo-western designs she can help this generation people to be fashionable and stylish. She says that garments are not to be worn just on ramp, they should be made in such a way that even common crowd can wear them.

How & when did you realize that fashion is your cup of tea?

From my childhood itself fashion was a part of me. I was born and brought up in such an environment where everyone in the family are fashion conscious, specially my mom. Being the only daughter of my house, my mom used to dress me up in all trendy clothes and accessories. She used to get specially designed dresses for me. Moreover from my childhood only I was good at painting and designing. I used to win almost all the painting competitions and art exhibitions in my place. But the final decision or realization happened, when I was in 8th standard. It was after winning a painting competition, as I am good in painting, also it is my hobby. So I thought why not to take this as a full time career, then I can enjoy my hobby and career too. And finally I made the right decision. All thanks to my dad for shaping my career.

Could you please tell our readers about your label & designs?

ANURADHA PAUL- That is the label name. It is a signature designer label for both male and female. It has designs of western wear, Indian wear, traditional wear, casual wear and party wears. It is mostly into indo – western. As I love to play with fabric and break the shades of the color palette. I feel that my imagination and creativity has given a new look and life to this Generation people. With my easy silhouette and simple cut I have given a new definition to fashion world. The designs are impeccable and modest with elegance. I feel that my designs give a new definition of clothing in the present and future era.

What inspires you and your designs?

I am inspired when I am alone and close with nature.

As you are into both designing & choreographing, which one excites you the most?

Both have different charm in them, designing is something where you keep on playing with fabric, breaking the shades of the color palette and lot of scrap sheet to get your final garment ready. While choreography is something, where you will give final shape to the garment by presenting them in front of the world. For me choreography or a choreographer is a mediator between the designer and the people. He or she helps to bring out the imagination from the designers head and showcase the garment to the people and make them feel that garments are not only for models but also for common crowd too.

We know that to be established in fashion industry is not a cake walk. Could you please share your experience in this industry?

During my college days only, we used to participate in inter-college fashion shows all over Bangalore. And with God’s grace we won almost 99% of the shows that we participated. But the greatest achievement is when we won ‘MTV style show down.’ After that I kept on getting shows from different parts of India. I did shows in Chennai, Kolkata, Assam, Hyderabad, Humpy etc. I even sell my garments to north east part of India. With God’s grace till now I have not experienced many failures. But yes, I have faced problems before, which I have overcome with my confidence and hard work. All thanks to my parents for being the great support.

Please tell us about the relationship you share with Bangalore.

BANGALORE- I never thought of coming here. But my luck brought me here and I am very happy for that. Bangalore gave me a lot. I know, like me many people achieve their dreams in Bangalore. But Bangalore not only helped me in achieving my dream career but also people over here loved me so much and today I share a very good relationship with the city and I feel it is my home town only. And if ever given the chance to do something for the city, I will be happy to help the city for any cause.

How have you prepared yourself for Bangalore Fashion Week (BFW)?

The preparation is going really well and rest is up to Bangalore how they take my work.

Could you please tell our readers about the designs that would be displayed for this season’s Bangalore Fashion Week?

Two words for this, it is bold and beautiful.

Who will be your show stopper for BFW, could you please tell us why have you chosen her?

Let it be a surprise. But she is a Bollywood celeb. Done some real good and hit movies. The reason behind selecting her is that she is the perfect example of bold and beautiful and she can carry my designs well.

As a designer how do you inspect BFW’s contribution in growing Bangalore as a fashion center?

Bangalore is a growing city in field of fashion compared to the cities like Mumbai or Delhi. Last four editions of BFW have been a success and it has already created hype in the cities like Mumbai and Delhi. Designers from these cities are keen to participate for BFW. Moreover in this edition international designers are also showcasing their collection which is helping Bangalore to grow much faster. And I believe with in 5years time Bangalore will lose the name ‘GROWING FASHION CENTER’ but will be knows as ‘Fashion Centre of India’

After BFW in which show will we get to see you?

Dubai Fashion Week is my next goal. I wish with God’s grace I would do that as well.

Rapid Fire:

Bangalore fashion Week – Dream come true

Who is your role model – My mom

Your dream show – Milan Fashion Week.

Your dream show stopper – Enrique

Your style statement – Be simple but creative
